Biographies of Co-Founders Ed Massey and Bernie Massey

Carrol Chang is a New York native and received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University. In addition to leading the education sessions Carrol works on outreach and recruiting participants for Garden in Transit. Prior to Garden in Transit Carrol worked as a teacher at the North Korean/ Chinese border. She speaks Mandarin and is fluent in Korean.

Tony Chin-Quee is a native of Brooklyn, New York and a graduate of Harvard University. In addition to leading the education sessions for Garden In Transit he introduces the project to the public with the GIT taxi. Tony will be pursuing his M.D. this fall.

Kyla Fullenwider is a native of Louisville, KY and a graduate of Harvard University. She works on a myriad of projects at Garden In Transit including overseeing special events, marketing and outreach. Prior to Garden in Transit Kyla worked as an Executive Director and Producer for public theater in Florida and also served as the Creative Director for a Miami based boutique Ad firm.

Katie O'Brien is originally from New Hampshire and received her AB from Harvard College. She leads education sessions for Garden in Transit and promotes the program in many other capacities. Katie is also an actress, and prior to Garden in Transit, she gained extensive experience teaching students in the performing arts, both locally and internationally.

Julie Palumbo moved to New York from Pennsylvania and received her BA from Fordham University. She oversees painting sessions for Garden In Transit and manages the studio. Julie is also a textile artist and has worked on youth development projects in Peru, Belize, Jamaica West Indies, and New York.

Melanie Stevenson is a Glen Ridge, New Jersey native and a graduate of Davidson College. In addition to coordinating the daily paint sessions she also oversees in-kind donations for Garden in Transit. Melanie has lived and studied in Spain and is fluent in Spanish.

Laura Weidman hails from New York City where she went to Hunter College Elementary and High Schools. She received her AB from Harvard College. At Garden in Transit Laura has her hand in a little bit of everything, coordinating the sessions, the volunteers, and the staff, working on special events and media relations, and serving as an organizational hub for many aspects of the project. Laura will be pursuing her JD/MBA in the fall. She is fluent in Spanish.

Marisa Zeldow moved to New York City from Chicago and graduated from NYU. In addition to managing session operations she works as a liaison between Garden in Transit and the taxi industry by introducing the project and helping to build the excitement therein. Prior to her work with Garden In Transit she developed online marketing and youth documentary workshops.
